Sandcastle

The sea is beautiful and cruel
It Washed away my sandcastle
Those tiny grains of sand, it took so long to build a stable structure
In one fell swoop they are washed away and I am left with nothing
Starting over again
I must get away from the sea
The beauty holds me still
The trance is toxic
I shall move away from the sea and keep my sandcastle safe

  1. Beautifully written. 🙂

Like the wise man in the Bible, build your house on a rock, not on sand.

But better still, build a house on a rock near the sea. 🙂

The sea has it’s moments of calm and beauty; other times it’s rough with crashing waves. Sometimes it can shipwreck you or take you where you’re going. Ah life. 🙂

  2. I thought this was a beautiful evocation of how arriving at the sea also feels like being at the edge of oneself, and the water is so many things at once, this ever changing thing in flux, that it’s both terrifying and captivating. Thank you for your words!
