Have you ever taken part in any form of competitive writing, from a local poetry contest to an online story competition?

It’s not something I have ever done, but an idea that I am definitely interested in. I don’t know of many because it is new territory for me.

I was contacted by Steph, the director of Gotham Writers Workshop regarding a writing competition called  Be a Hero Contest

This piqued my interest and so I went ahead and entered it. I thought I would share it with you, in case it was something that you would be interested in too.

The contest is to write a story of a hero in 50 words or fewer. The winner will get a free class with the Gotham Writers Workshop and they will send the winning story to each of the 100 members of the US Senate and the 435 members of the House of Representatives.

I love the idea of this contest and the challenge to say so much with so few words. It made me think a lot about who I see as my hero and it was easy for me to figure out who that was. Winning would be awesome of course, but the taking part in my first contest is exciting.

If you are interested in entering the contest, you can enter via the link above and also check out their site about online writing classes. I’m always keen to learn more and I know that my writing skills have a long way to go, so studying online in my spare time would be something that I would possibly want to do in the near future.

If you entered the contest, who would you write about? Who is your hero?

Are there any other writing competitions that you have taken part in recently that you would like to share? I would love to hear about them.

Until next time, Happy Tuesday!
